Zine Camp came and went.

It was an intense and lovely experience to organise and host Zine Camp this year. So much energy was floating in the air, people creating zines on every table, talking and sharing, learning and expanding their circle of friends. Truly magic. It felt like Rotterdam was craving for something like this to happen.

Zine Camp 2015

Together with Tim Braakman and Amy Suo Wu from Studio Eyesberg, we've been busy organising the second edition of Zine Camp, on the 9th and 10th of May at WORM.

SCALE:

Last summer Anniek Tijmes and I came up with the idea of doing a series of illustrations about the topic of human vs. architecture scale in Rotterdam. This city has a peculiar way of dealing with it, to many architects it's specially attractive because this allows a sense of freedom and experimentation
while designing a building or an urban space.

Fast forward a few months, and we were having our opening at Damage Playground! It was an interesting evening rounded up by a debate with talkers Jason Hilgefort, Daphne Bakker and Marcos Rodríguez talking about their views and ideas of the topic we proposed. Floor Cornelisse moderated the talk.

The illustrations will be showing at Damage (Rotterdam) until mid March, so if you're in town, don't miss them!

Here is one of the illustrations I did. This one is the market square (when the market isn't on).
It's called Binnenrotte.

Project day at WDKA - zine workshop.

Due to the latest news in Paris at the Charlie Hebdo offices, this project day was organised. Different workshops were help to understand the power of images in the media, related to news. I was in charge of a zine workshop, the participants were free to chose the topic to illustrate. Most of them chose feminism. It was a fun day and we got a nice risographed zine by the end of it.

Ending the year with a Pothead sale.

The last few months of 2014 I worked on a series of ceramic pieces called Potheads. After a bit of stress and uncertainty (glazing is a temperamental thing), I finally got the pieces ready to sell before Christmas. I was so happy to sell them all!

Our new studio space, Indeks, is coming along nicely. We are now ready to start hosting events. More news soon!

Below are photos of my Potheads and the studio opening. It was a great end to 2014.
Bring it on, 2015!

The whole Pothead family just hangin'.

Supportive friends.

Sgrafitto and hanging vases.

I'm loving working with clay more and more.
I've been experimenting with some sgrafitto to get hairy textures.

Sgrafitto samples, to see which one I like best.

This was my favourite.

Hanging vases.
I still have to decide what colour these are going to be.
I'm thinking something with speckles might be nice.
